Advertising Gone Mad

Look at me falling behind. Truth is I need your help, Need Topic ideas sometimes. Send me your ideas on what to write about and I’ll keep the thoughts coming.

Back on Topic. When does Advertising your stream or whatever the heck you’re working on go wrong?

One thing I do my very best to do is never to go into other streams and talk about my own. I'd compare it to going into my friends business and telling everyone that's there that my shops open and just down the road.

This topic is a hard one though isn't? I mean in the social media/Twitch/YouTube business advertising is what you HAVE to do. With soooo many people dipping in the online media pool, how do you get discovered? How do you stand out? How do people find you?

As with real life business your strongest asset is always word of mouth. If a friend of a friend is telling people about you, you did something right. They had fun with you. They enjoyed what you offered and want to share that. Starting out this is damn hard to get, this is where the HARD WORK comes into play. "Well Vaz, How can they find my stream when I can only stream every blue moon when the donkey farts?" <--Ok your once a blue moon stream or video is got to be a good one right? Make people come back for more? Having a schedule really does help. Can’t expect people to even know you’re going to stream when you’ve been gone for a long time. Got to let people know.

So how do we let people know? My opinion is having some class try not to piggyback you. Person A tweets out hey I'm going live! Then person B adds on to said tweet and goes "oh hey me too?" Not so classy.

Streamer is Streaming and person comes into stream to just talk about how they are streaming right now too...Not so Classy.

You tuber posts a video to share with their community...another comes up and comments oh hey I YouTube too!... Not so classy.

I have to ask you a serious question, Have any of these worked on you? Have you ever followed or even checked out someone that sold them self in this manner? Isn't this the same shit we hate when we do anything? Oh hey you’re going to watch the next episode of your favorite show but guess what here’s 30 seconds of shit you don't need. Think about it. When you’re in that one person’s channel saying Hey I’m streaming later! Did it benefit your product? I know I tend to ignore those no matter where I am.

The thing people tend to forget in these matters is that behind all of the YouTube videos, streams, vines, etc. are people working very hard just like everyone else. The internet has a great way of disconnecting us from each other. That stream you wondered into and went oh wow there’s people in here I need to sell myself, well there’s a person working just as hard if not harder to do the same.

I want to clarify that there's advertising and then there is talking among friends about streaming. Examples: 1. "Hey I’m streaming right now or later!" <-- this is advertising, 2. "What do you do when this happens live on stream? Or what do you recommend?" <-- This is streamer buddy talk.

I truly believe that one’s hard work always pays off in the end. I may be doing this all the wrong way, who knows? But what I do know is I plan to do this with Respect and honor, I do not want success if it comes at the cost at stepping on others. You also have to protect your brand. Your symbol, Your Brand, what are you selling? Are you the site they stopped at because ads forced them there? Or are you the site that they came looking for?

After my Rant of course I'll offer some recommendations on advertisement that’s classy and I find to be respectful.

1. Just be a friend: Wait what’s that mean? It's all that really matters I think, Be a friend to who you enjoy spending time with and the rest will come. Your friend will gladly tell others what you’re working on; you’ll never have to be the asshat that just talks about themselves all the time. Show up and support because they are important to you. If your just there to sell yourself, do us all a favor..GO AWAY.

2. Twitter/Instagram/ Facebook /Vine: Use Social media as much as you can. Use twitter to join conversations, make people go "who is this person?" Share Pictures that let people peek into what’s important. YOU.

3. Work Hard: You want people to look at your YouTube? Put some time into it. Can’t be mad you don’t have 100000 subs when you’ve posted 3 videos in the last 6 months. Create and Publish! Want people in your stream? Stream more than once a week! How are people going to find you if your live for 2 hours on a Sunday night? Nothing ever worth it comes easy. Look at the people in your lives, your family, your spouses, Your Career, Your Friends, Is that shit easy? FUCK no but you wouldn’t want it any other way.

Keep it up, Work Hard, Just stay classy and respectful.

Let me know your thoughts, send me a message, talk to me live on stream about it. I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
